Weekly Update 20/10/2023

Hello everyone, and welcome to the final message of this half-term. We want to express our gratitude for your unwavering support during this period. We've had an amazing time at school, and our students have performed exceptionally well. We're committed to maintaining this momentum as we head into the period leading up to the Christmas break.

A big shoutout to the Year Eight parents who attended the parents' evening last night. We understand that you had to brave some challenging weather, so thank you for being there. Your support and positive feedback for myself, my leadership team, and the teachers are greatly appreciated. Knowing that we have your support boosts our morale, knowing that our efforts are helping young people be proud and achieve those gold standards. We hope you found the feedback about your child's progress in all subjects valuable and that you'll continue to motivate and energize them to improve where necessary.

Our sixth-form students have organised a special day to raise awareness for breast cancer and support the related charity. Our sixth-form students are exceptional at social action, and I hope you can support them whenever they engage in initiatives like this, as it plays a crucial role in their personal development and our goal of nurturing well-rounded students.

Regarding extracurricular activities, our Physical Education department has achieved remarkable results this half term. They've seen record numbers in club attendance and secured some impressive victories in competitive competitions. Remember our goal is for every student to participate in at least one club each week, so after half term, we'll send out a reminder about these clubs and reach out to students who haven't signed up yet.

As I mentioned earlier, our sixth form is highly engaged in social activities. One of our Year 12 students, George Somerville, is a member of the local Hillingdon and Youth Parliament group. He has organised an event over half term to raise awareness of mental health. We've been active on social media, raising awareness of World Mental Health Day, and George's event is on the 27th of October, next Friday, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Christ Church, Bedford Way. If any young people from our school wish to attend, George will be there to welcome them.

In closing, I want to express my gratitude for all your support during this half term. It has been a fantastic and thoroughly enjoyable time. We look forward to continuing our journey after the break. Please remember that after half term, students have an extra day's break and will return on Tuesday, the 31st of October, which also happens to be Halloween. So, we hope there will be no spooky surprises that day. Have a wonderful half term, take care, and we'll see you all very soon.
