Weekly Update 24/11/2023

Dear parents, carers and students

It's a pleasure to connect with you again. Building on last week's theme of communication and trust, our goal is to strengthen the bond between the school, students, and parents. Mr Churchill, a valuable member of our leadership team, will share more insights shortly.

We understand the challenges parents face, especially when it comes to teenagers. With over 1400 students in our school, collaboration is key to ensuring the best for our young learners. Clear expectations and routines play a crucial role in this endeavour.

One aspect we'd like your support with is our mobile phone policy. It's simple: see it, lose it. This policy helps in ensuring student focus, reducing bullying, and maintaining a safe environment. Confiscated phones are returned with parental consent, either at the end of the day or after a phone call.

We start each day positively, greeting students and fostering a supportive environment. However, we implement sanctions to correct behaviour and promote improvement when necessary. This approach stems from kindness and a commitment to helping students excel in their lessons. In the spirit of collaboration, we invite you to participate in our parental survey, which will be shared alongside this update. Your views are invaluable and contribute to the continuous improvement of our school. There's still time to sign up for the parental open morning on Wednesday 29th November. In the coming weeks, we'll introduce you to various staff members who will share their experiences and tips. This week, we feature Jonathon Churchill, a member of our leadership team. Jonathon's favourite part of the day is welcoming students in the morning. His top tip for parents is to utilize Seneca Learning, a free and valuable revision tool for students in Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.

Just a polite reminder, next Friday 1st December is a school holiday for students and staff members.
