Government’s Chief Operating Officer visits UHS
Uxbridge High School was very proud to have Stephen Kelly, Chief Operating Officer for the Government, visit the school. Mr Kelly spoke to over 100 students about his career and held a question and answer session about issues such as what skills and attributes will make students more employable in the future. He also outlined how he works with the government to deliver efficiencies, savings and reforms on behalf of UK taxpayers.
On the whole, it was a very inspirational talk, where students gained an insight as to what it is like to work at the very top end of the government. Year 12 student, Adilah Shamsudeen, said “It was great to learn from someone who has had very successful experiences working in large organisations all around the world. I am now motivated to work harder so that someday I can be successful like him”.
The talk concluded with Mr Kelly inviting some students from Uxbridge High School into the Cabinet Office so that they can learn and experience what it is really like to work on a daily basis for the government.
