Principal's Weekly Update

A Spectacular Sports Day Wrap-Up

Good Afternoon Everyone,
It's wonderful to share the highlights of our fantastic Sports Day, marking the end of this half-term. The vibrant atmosphere is palpable, with our talented Sixth Formers DJing and Mr. Dawson and Ms Silva MCing the event. The weather has been kind to us, making this beautiful day even more enjoyable.

Our students from Years 7, 8, and 9 have shown exemplary behaviour and embodied our PROUD values throughout the day. This event isn't just about competing and winning; it's about celebrating our school's spirit and inclusiveness.

A special thanks to the parent who pointed out my omission in last week's blog regarding the celebration of the Paris Olympics. I failed to mention the Paris Paralympics, which are a crucial part of our school's ethos of inclusivity and sport for all. Reflecting on my days as a PE teacher, I fondly remember taking a group of young people to the London Paralympics, which truly highlighted the importance of Paralympic sports. Let's continue to support and celebrate these incredible athletes.

Today has been a busy day at Uxbridge High School. Our students have excelled in various exams, including A-level Physics, English Literature, and GCSE French. I wished our French students "bonne chance" this morning, and they were ready for another great performance. Our Year 11 and 13 students have been remarkable in their exams, and Year 10 enjoyed a drop-down coursework day, showcasing their talents in hospitality, catering, DT and photography.
It's days like these that remind us why we do this job. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Uxbridge High School. This half-term has been challenging, but today is a reward for your hard work and dedication. Every staff member is here because they genuinely care about and value our young people.

In light of the recent general election announcement, we need to inspire hope in the next generation. Our students have the potential to make the world a better place, and events like Sports Day help foster that belief.

Thank you for your continued support. We hope you have a safe and enjoyable half-term and look forward to meeting the students after the break.

Sincerely,
Louisa Seymour
Headteacher
