Principal's Weekly Update
Uxbridge High School Newsletter: A Golden Start to the New Academic Year
Happy Friday, Uxbridge High School Community!
We are thrilled to share that the first week of the 2024-2025 academic year has been an incredible success. Our students and parents have truly made this week one to remember, and I want to take a moment to say a heartfelt thank you for making it such a golden start. Everything has gone perfectly, and we are beyond proud of the Uxbridge family.
This week, I would like to highlight three important aspects of our school: our fabulous students, attendance, and the exciting new enrichment opportunities.
Our Fabulous Students
Firstly, a huge shout-out to all our wonderful students. They have embraced our core Proud values and consistently demonstrated the gold standard we ask for. Year 7 students, proudly wearing the new Uxbridge High School uniform, have set a fantastic example. While the new uniform is compulsory for Year 7, students in Years 8 to 11 can continue wearing their current uniform or purchase the new one if they wish. The choice is entirely up to you.
Our students have shown incredible dedication by arriving on time, in uniform, and fully embracing the Proud values we uphold. Their commitment to excellence has been truly inspiring, and we couldn’t have asked for a better start.
Attendance and National Guidelines
Next, let’s talk about attendance. This week, all parents will receive an important letter outlining government changes to attendance guidelines. These updates are part of a national initiative to address attendance issues. While Uxbridge High School consistently performs above the national and London averages, we are committed to maintaining the highest standards and ensuring all students are striving for gold in their attendance.
We believe that creating an enjoyable and engaging environment is the key to encouraging students to come to school and achieve 100% attendance. It’s our goal to make school a place where every student feels excited to learn and grow. Please do take the time to read the letter, which includes details on the consequences of poor attendance and how we are working proactively to keep attendance levels high.
Exciting Enrichment Opportunities
Lastly, we’re excited to introduce a new initiative this year: Enrichment Afternoons every Tuesday! Enrichment activities are now available to all students, not just a select few, because we believe that every young person deserves access to a wide range of opportunities. These activities are designed to help students further develop their skills and interests, reinforcing our core values.
Students have already begun exploring their options during form time, and enrichment activities will officially begin next Tuesday. We encourage parents to talk to their children this weekend about the opportunities available and help them sign up for something exciting.
That’s all from me for this week! I’ll be back next week with more updates. For now, I’ll hand over to Mr. Morgan and a few of our incredible Year 7 students.
Year 7: A Warm Welcome
Mr. Morgan: "I want to express how incredibly proud we are of our Year 7 students. They’ve done a remarkable job this week learning about our Proud values and settling into life at Uxbridge High. The gold-standard start they’ve had is something we’re all proud of."
A quick reminder: Year 7 parents are invited to our Welcome Evening on Thursday, 12th September. It’s a great opportunity to meet tutors and the Year 7 team, and we’ll be available to answer any remaining questions you might have. We look forward to seeing you all there!
Here’s what some of our Year 7 students had to say:
Devonte: "The best thing about Uxbridge High so far is the lessons – they’re brilliant! In the future, I’d like to be a footballer."
Simendeep: "I have so many opportunities to learn at Uxbridge High School. When I grow up, I want to be a doctor."
Thank you for your continued support. Let’s keep this golden momentum going!
