Principal's Weekly Update
A New Year, A New Me
As we step into 2025, we embrace the opportunities and challenges ahead. While some may nostalgically wish for the simplicity of earlier years (like 1997!), we are focused on making the most of the present.
At Uxbridge High School, we started the year with staff training centred around fostering a sense of belonging. We are committed to creating a unified environment where every student feels they are part of our shared vision—the UHS Way. This means clear routines, aligned expectations, and a culture of positivity and hope.
A new year is a chance to deepen these values and ensure every student feels supported and inspired to achieve their best. Parents, your role in this is invaluable. We want you to feel just as much a part of our vision as the students and staff.
To help us grow together, a parental survey will be sent out soon. Your feedback is very important, so please take the time to share your thoughts when it comes.
Attendance and Punctuality
Attendance is the foundation of success, and we are proud of the commitment our students and families show in this area. However, we know that the holiday season brought its share of challenges, including illness. If your child is unwell, we completely understand, but whenever possible, we encourage everyone to make the effort to attend school daily and arrive on time.
Key reminders:
-
Gate Open Time: The school gates open at 7:45 AM.
-
Lineup Time: Students must be at the lineup by 8:15 AM.
- Arrival: Aim for arrival by 8:00 AM to ensure a smooth start.
Let’s work together to minimise late arrivals and keep our attendance record strong.
Our Enrichment Program
This week marked the start of a new round of enrichment activities. These programs are a fantastic way for students to explore new interests, develop skills, and connect with peers outside the classroom. We encourage parents to talk with their children about their enrichment experiences and support their participation.
A Message from Mr Futhela
Mr Futhela, our Year 8 Guidance Leader, shared an inspiring message for the new year:
“You can overcome any challenges you face. Last year brought its share of difficulties, but with support from home, teachers, and guidance leaders, our students showed incredible resilience. I believe 2025 will be a fantastic year for growth and success.”
Looking Ahead
As we embark on this journey together, we thank you for your ongoing support and dedication to your child’s education. Let’s make 2025 a year to remember.
We will be back next week with more updates. Until then, let’s keep working together to make this school year the best it can be.
Warm regards,
Louisa Seymour
