  • Talented young cricketer

    The school was delighted to hear about the success in cricket being enjoyed by one of its Year 11 students, Bilal Mohammed.

    During the summer Bilal took part in the ECB Under 15 National Finals held at Kibworth CC, Leicestershire, where he represented Surrey County Cricket Club. His team reached the final and Bilal played a vital role making a match winning 64. Bilal has just heard that he has been shortlisted in the last three for the “Amateur Player of the Year” award at the Asian Cricket Awards being held at Lord’s on 7 October.

  • Prince’s Teaching Institute Mark awarded once again to UHS

    The Prince’s Teaching Institute (PTI) launched the Schools Programme in 2007 to recognise and reward school departments that develop inspirational ideas and activities which enhance the teaching of Art, English, History, Geography, Science, Mathematics, Modern Foreign Languages and Music, regardless of their students’ backgrounds or abilities. It is run as a membership group for school departments that choose to commit to increasing the challenge of their subject provision.

  • Roy Blatchford, Director of the National Education Trust

    Staff were thrilled to welcome Roy Blatchford as guest speaker at our training day on 3rd September.

    Roy has worked in nearly every sector of education from the classroom to Whitehall. During the past forty years he has been a teacher, headteacher, school governor, Government adviser, director of various educational charities, Ofsted inspector, national trainer and keynote speaker. Roy was Her Majesty’s Inspector of Schools in England, with lead responsibility for school improvement and for the national inspection of good and outstanding schools. More recently, he has helped establish inspection and school review systems in New York, Dubai and Mumbai. Roy is a Visiting Fellow at Oxford Brookes University.

  • A Level Results

    Students and staff at UHS have been delighted with this year’s Sixth Form results.  100% of students have achieved examination success with 94% of examinations entered passed with grades A-E or equivalent.  Over 30% of these examinations being passed at the highest A*-B grades. Mathematics, a top performing subject celebrated 50% of students achieving A*-B grades.

  • Holocaust Survivor, Uri Winterstein, visits UHS

  • Government’s Chief Operating Officer visits UHS

    Uxbridge High School was very proud to have Stephen Kelly, Chief Operating Officer for the Government, visit the school.  Mr Kelly spoke to over 100 students about his career and held a question and answer session about issues such as what skills and attributes will make students more employable in the future.  He also outlined how he works with the government to deliver efficiencies, savings and reforms on behalf of UK taxpayers.

  • UHS Students join visit by Prince Charles to The Royal Shakespeare Company

    Students and a teacher from Uxbridge High School travelled to the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Stratford-upon-Avon home to meet HRH The Prince of Wales and the RSC’s President on 2 June.  As part of the visit, HRH experienced the work of the RSC’s Learning and Performance Network, which stretches throughout the country and involves over 400,000 students and their teachers.  Each school works with the RSC and their local theatre to create the best experience of Shakespeare in the classroom and in performance for young people.

  • 23 Uxbridge High students graduate at The University of Cambridge!

    Uxbridge High School students in Year 9 and 10 attended a graduation ceremony at Newnham College, part of the University of Cambridge on Monday 12th May. Each of the students involved had recently completed and passed a 2000 word assignment on either international relations or the growth and death of cancer cells. However, the students had a little help along the way in the form of two PhD students from leading universities who tutored the students through six university-style sessions, which took place on university campuses and the Uxbridge High School site.

  • Year 9 visit to Ypres, Belgium

    Uxbridge High School Year 9 students visited Ypres in Belgium to commemorate the centenary of World War One last week.  The students have been studying the war in their History lessons and the trip was to both complement their academic work and offer an experience of the topic beyond the classroom.
