Annual Awards Presentation Evening
Our annual Presentation Evening took place on 11th September 2014. Our special guest Greg Dyke, Chairman of the FA, joined us for the evening to present awards and celebrate the achievements of our senior students.
Greg Dyke is a British media executive, journalist and broadcaster and is currently chairman of The Football Association (FA). Since the 1960s, he has had a long career in the United Kingdom. He is credited with the introduction of many new ideas to television in British broadcasting and reviving the ratings of TV-am. In the 1990s he held Chief Executive positions at LWT Group, Pearson Television and Channel 5. Other achievements include his tenure as Director-General of the BBC from January 2000 until January 2004 and is currently the chairman of the children’s television company HiT Entertainment. He has also been Chancellor of the University of York since 2004.
Special awards for students included the Musician of the Year, presented to Aisha McPherson, Brentford Scholar Award for Outstanding Effort presented to Audrius Laucys, the Jamaal Salandy Arts Award which was presented to Zoe Cooke and Sunil Bhatoy won the Technology Award.
Many students attended the ceremony before taking up their places at universities around the country. The audience was entertained by a range of student performances including public speaking, singing and a percussion duet. There was also a special performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, which was the school’s production this summer.
